In the next couple of weeks or so, you will notice significant changes to my website. I have recently teamed up with Denver photographer, Lisa Hodnet, of Lisa Hodnet Photography and together have formed Elite Weddings! That’s right…I am now Jamie Smith Photography and Elite Weddings. My portrait web address will stay the same…I am simply going to add a tab onto my home page where you can click to enter into the wedding site.

With our combined years of marketing and photography experience, Lisa and I will make quite the power team in this wedding business venture. I was so honored to be a part of this very special wedding last weekend. Jaci and I have known eachother since we were babies. We had lost touch for a short while after college but reconnected fairly recently. I got to meet her new man, whom I must say is quite a great guy. Thanks again you two for allowing me to be a part of the celebration. I did my best to leave some element of suprise, but I couldn’t help myself and had to post a ton of my favorites for your sneak peak. Enjoy!

I know people, two blog posts in one day! I’m gettin crazy! I’ve been dying to share these pictures from a wedding I shot a few weeks ago in Estes Park at the famous Stanley Hotel. This old hotel is so beautiful inside and out…it’s a photographer’s dream wedding venue for sure! I must say that it really did feel a bit haunted. When I returned home I wanted to rent The Shining but it wasn’t available (for those of you who don’t know…the Stanley Hotel was were The Shining was filmed). This couple was nothing but fun to work with. Enjoy some of my MANY favorites. I know, I went a bit picture crazy here but I couldn’t help myself.

I had the pleasure of photographing this couple at The Fine Arts Center in downtown Colorado Springs. They wanted their photographs to be exclusively photojournalistic, but when I saw some amazing backlight and nice fall colors outside, I begged them to take a posed photo which I think turned out fabulously and really captured their joy. You’d never guess they don’t like to be in front of the camera. The first two photos were taken at the cocktail hour before their ceremony began (hence the beautiful black cocktail dress Kristen wore before she slipped into her gorgeous gown). I threw in the bouquet photo to show you my newest post processing technique…thought it turned out pretty cool.

I had the pleasure of photographing this fun couple during and after a fantastic, breathtaking hike through the Catamount Falls Trail. Their ceremony took place outdoors, right in the heart of nature. We were completely surrounded by God’s glory. Just look at how in love they are. Thank you for an adventurous day you guys!

Sorry about the miserably neglected blog folks. My computer crashed and the temporary computer I was using wouldn’t allow me to update my blog for some unknown reason. So, I’m back! And I have a small preview of the best 2 month old I’ve ever photographed. You photographers out there know how challenging it can be to work with infants between the ages of two weeks and 7 months (they aren’t as sleepy as when they were first born, they can’t sit up yet so positioning them is hard, they aren’t smiling too much if at all, and their level of tolerance with a big camera in their face isn’t the greatest). Well this little girl was out to prove me wrong. She was quite content the majority of the time I was there and we even managed to get some sleeping pictures. I really enjoyed working with this family.
